O_O Email/AIM: jeanxskirt@gmail/jeanxskirt Timezone: PST Availability: Off and on during the week, not around so much on the weekends, mostly at night (8-10ish PST) In Character Name: Helena Ravenclaw Alias (if any): DOB, DOD, & Age at time of death: Born February 25th, 1002 A.D., died November 16th, 1027 A.D., Aged 25 Species: Human Witch Canon point: WAY before the Harry Potter series started. She comes from her death. Family Tree: Mum: Rowena Ravenclaw; "the most brilliant witch of her time," who, according to legend, died of a broken heart. Dad: Edward Elians; died when Helena was a very small child. Helena barely remembers her father. No siblings History: When Rowena Ravenclaw was thirteen years old, she met Helena's father. At the time Rowena was living in a nunnery. She left the nunnery to be with Edward, who would be Helena's father. It was a rash decision, compounded only by the awareness of a pregnancy several months later. Helena was born after her mother's fourteenth birthday. When Helena was two years old, her father died of TB, and left a very young Rowena Ravenclaw alone with a toddler, and an incredibly immense bank account. Rowena Ravenclaw had been given up by her own parents, and had born Helena when she was still a child herself. Rowena had no idea what it meant to be a mother, and her relationship with her daughter was strained at best. She loved the girl, but had never known how to express or show that love. Helena grew up in a cold and distant household, but that didn't stop her from loving music and animals, and grow a passion for literature and learning. As a young child, Helena grew up at the school where her mother and the other founders poured their hearts and souls. Godric, Helga and Salazar became like parents to the young girl, who was very shy and very, very intelligent. Helena spent most of her time in the library, and made friends slowly. She was hand-chosen for her Mum's house, and went through Hogwart's School just like the rest of her class. She didn't really stand out in any way, except for her Charm work, and her propensity for Arithmancy (thanks to her mother). Her Mother was more fond of the theory-based classes than the practical ones, so Helena spent a lot of time studying History, Astronomy and Arithmancy... when all she really wanted to do was Charms and Transfiguration. After school was finished, Helena stayed on to assist with students and teachers. She became an assistant to the Charms professor. Salazar Slytherin, who had become a surrogate father figure to Helena, and in fear of her becoming an old maid, he started to look for suitable husbands for the girl. She was already in her late teens and wasn't married. Others of her peers were already wed with children! Salazar had no sons of the right age, but he had many business and social contacts that were almost good enough. He would take Helena and the prospective suitors on supervised dates. Helena spent years respectfully declining the attentions of the suitors, as she had other things on her mind. One suitor in particular wasn't going to take no for an answer. Salazar encouraged Helena to go on several dates with the Baron, though their relationship was cut short by Helena's leaving for Romania. But living in the same school with her mother was proving more and more difficult, and their relationship became more and more strained. Now that Helena had had a chance to see other families interacting, she knew what she'd been missing in her own life. She wanted to feel loved and nurtured, or wanted to become a lover and a nurturer herself. She blamed a lot of her own problems on her mother (which was entirely her own fault) and the two fought frequently. Finally Helena snapped. One summer, in a fit of rage, she grabbed her mother's Diadem, and took off for Romania. While Helena was in Romania with her mother's Diadem, she heard word at a local tavern that the Baron had come to collect her and deliver her back home to Hogwarts school. She ran through the woods as a short cut back to the Inn where she'd been staying, but was caught by the Baron. When she told him she would never love him, never marry him, and that his coming all this way to Romania was in vain, the Baron drew his sword and stuck her through with it in a fit of passion. [Of course, any of this backstory can be adapted should any of the other Hogwarts Founders be applied for/taken characters.] Personality: Quiet, book-smart, loyal and focused. Helena's the kind of girl you only notice because of her beauty. She doesn't speak unless spoken to, and she keeps mostly to herself. This is both because it's in her personality, and because she was raised this way. Death: Helena was stuck through the middle by the sword of the Baron, whose romantic intentions she'd respectfully declined. Her death was long and painful, as she bled out onto the snowy ground int he woods. She was in the woods in Romania, hiding with her mother's Diadem. Abilities & Talents: Charms, Transfiguration, studying, reading, staying quiet, being old fashioned, politeness, maintaining peace and calm. Helena is a talented witch, and a very magical person. She is very talented at translating magical texts, and keeping the peace between people--as she'd had to do with Godric and Salazar several times while she was working at Hogwarts School. She can charm or transfigure almost anything, though her defensive spells aren't necessarily the best. Weaknesses: Very quiet, bookish, doesn't stand up for herself, pushover, sometimes uses words other people don't understand, very traditional, somewhat closed minded. Physically weak, unable to protect herself through magic. Likes: Blue, books, quiet, violin music, singing, fresh fruit, cuddling with cats by a fire. Dislikes: Loud noises, darkness, loud dogs, bitter or salty foods, cold weather. She is learning to settle herself down to sleep now, though it is rather hard. She cries rather often when I try to get her to sleep in her crib. I am sorry if anyone can hear her. It was such a hard thing to do to be on the island without my things, my room, my cats. She is napping now, so I have a moment to run to the restaurant for some food. | 4:47 pm | I had no idea how much having a child would change my life completely. It is the most wonderful change, even though it is quite a strain. I am constantly tired, constantly working to take care of my child, and constantly wondering what happened to my old life. It has been quite some time since I have seen anyone. Esme is seven weeks old, and she is the light of my life. I would love a visitor, though. Would anyone like to come by? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 4:56 pm | I am so very sorry that I have not been more available as of late. It is very hard to move around, I am tired and hungry near constantly, and am taking as much time to sleep as I can. I certainly hope that there will be friends nearby after Esme is born, because I am sure that I could use the help in keeping our quarters clean. | 11:16 am | I am 34 weeks pregnant. It is hard to believe that I only have 6 weeks to go. I have only had one "false alarm," but one was definitely enough. The Midwives on the ship have been very supportive. I am very much looking forward to the shower that Dorea is throwing for me. We have decided to name the baby after her grandmother on my husband's side. Her name will be Esme. We have not yet decided what her family name will be, since we have many to choose from. I am addicted to daytime television. I watch the angry muggle judges, and the "soap opera" with All the Children. I am as large as a planet, and it is easy to lay around on the sofa and watch the television. The kittens come and curl up with me. The next Quidditch Match will be the Vikings Versus the Pirates, on February 28th. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The Third Team, whose name is yet to be determined, will be considered in Limbo until they collect two more players. The game will be on February 28th, at 1pm on the pitch. I have checked the weather forecast, and it shows that the next two weeks will be beautiful for Quidditch. Our first truly Official game will be on January 31st, Saturday. It will be the Pirates versus the Vikings. Please let me know if there are changes or amendments to the teams. | 5:10 pm | The Healers want to see me every other week now, instead of once each month. And for the last month of my pregnancy, they will want to see me every week, just to make sure I am progressing properly. I am at thirty weeks now, and all is well. Luna and Loki look adorable with their litter. It is remarkable how quickly kittens grow. I am sure that our daughter, Esme, will grow nearly as quickly. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
